AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE FOREVER - FINALE WATCHING GAME

AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE FOREVER FINALE WATCHING GAME
**

Tonight, we celebrate the final episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and bid farewell to the series also known as Aqua Teen Hunger Force Forever, Aqua TV Show Show, Aqua Teen Something You Know Whatever or ATHF, from Adult Swim on Cartoon Network. This show is a source of countless private jokes between my husband and I, and the reason why i made a pilgrimage to Williams Street in Atlanta, Georgia several years ago. Aqua Teen is also quite possibly the only tv program i can recite word for word, karaoke style.

THANK YOU Dave Willis, Matt Maiellaro, Carey Means, Dana Snyder, Ned Hastings, Mike Lazzo and Keith Crofford! Also special thanks to Nick Ingkatanuwat, who has shown me that a person CAN get a real job from an internship, at least outside of Los Angeles. Thanks to you all for all the joy and groans you have brought us!
v & Frylock during happy times
v & Frylock during happy times.

BEFORE WATCHING THE EPISODE:
1)
All players choose a main character (Master Shake, Meatwad, Frylock or Carl).

2)
All players choose a side character (NOT Master Shake, Meatwad, Frylock or Carl) from Season 1 through 10. If playing with a small group, you may choose more than one, but don't forget who your characters are! (For example, Randy the Magnificent = OK, The Hairy Bus = NOT ok.)

WHILE WATCHING THE EPISODE:
PLAYER TAKES A DRINK EATS KALE when:
  • Player's main character specifically does this: MASTER SHAKE - Uses his hands or raises his eyebrows. MEATWAD - Shape changes or cries. FRYLOCK - Shows his braces or his back jewel. CARL - Runs or smiles.
  • Player's main character or side character dies onscreen.
PLAYER CHOOSES A DIFFERENT PLAYER TO DRINK EAT KALE when:
  • Player's chosen side character makes its first appearance.
  • Player spots a sight gag or homage to past episode. (For example, in this season/season 11, there was a Broodwich in a pile of junk, and in another episode, at the mall there was a bricked-in hole shaped like a Rabbot.)

ALL PLAYERS DRINK EAT KALE when in the episode there is:
  • An explosion.
  • A brand new character.
  • An appearance of a George Lowe character or voice.
  • A "celebrity" appears in the episode. (Like Danzig, John Kruk, Andrew WK etc.)
  • A character voiced by David Cross.
**This is not a drinking game. **

immediate #vma impressions

...rather, my not-so-live blogging of the show due to my TiVo'd broadcast (which, btw allowed me to scan through an hour of uselessness in about ten minutes.):

gaga=UGLY man. bieber=gorgeous girl. no one's ever heard of Jessie J. Chris Brown=YES. Kanye ♥s music. woo! is that the LXD?!! cool way to repurpose the spiderman musical flying rig thing. Adele sings, thank god. awesome Tyler the Creator deserves it. who's the guy in the skirt? snuki ist kurz. well done, RuBra...oooh is this a psa?...is that a hologram?...we miss u Amy...Bruno Mars' pompadour = better than gaga's. weird, Lil' Waye is a mix between Flavor Flav and Lil' Jon.

holy crap it's burning man time again.

this is gorgeous!

my god, i'm speechless...Kuroi-Tsuki san, you are a master. (his name means 'black moon' in Japanese, btw...)

Venture by *Kuroi-Tsuki on deviantART

"It's about the beauty of failure. It's about that failure happens to all of us... Every character is not only flawed, but sucks at what they do, and is beautiful at it and Jackson and I suck at what we do, and we try to be beautiful at it, and failure is how you get by... It shows that failure's funny, and it's beautiful and it's life, and it's okay, and it's all we can write because we are big... failures." -Doc Hammer

Kuroi-Tsuki goes on to say: "I love Venture Bros with a passion, it's one of the most amazing comedies out there. If you're not a fan, you're really missing out. Anyway, I can't wait for Season 5."

and ROCK ON, Dr. O!!! woo! huge thanks to THE MANTIS-EYE EXPERIMENT for turning me on to this.

KCET is no longer channel 28, at least on Time-Warner cable

late last night, i was confused when i saw a black, empty screen on channel 28, which, since childhood (at least in Orange County), was usually the former Los Angeles PBS station KCET. i thought it was a TiVO mixup, but today, even worse fears were confirmed, as stated in this press release (or programming alert?) issued by Time Warner cable:
"Beginning on or about January 17, 2011, KCET, which is currently made available to customers in an analog (or both analog and digital) format will be made available in a digital format only. KCET will remain on the Broadcast service level. Viewing on certain television sets may require additional equipment that can be provided by Time Warner Cable or that may be available for purchase from retail stores in certain locations. "
as we all know, KCET no longer carried PBS as of the first of the 2011 year. i was surprised to see just one other analogue cable 'dinosaur' on a local Los Angeles Yahoo! forum was noticing, let alone complaining, this recent development, that 'TWC drops analog KCET (ch.6)'.

what's worse is, even if we HAD digital KCET in Orange County, we would be forced to accept KCET's 24/7 Kids and Family channel, rather than their so-called "new" independent programming...which i was kinda digging, what with all the cool cooking shows (YOUR JAPANESE KITCHEN, RICK BAYLESS, ERIC RIPERT etc.), plus H.R. PUFNSTUF and LIDSVILLE!!?!

the holidaze make me think of the crumpus...

'tis actually spelt KRAMPUS. he's a.k.a. the holiday devil!

Gruss vom Krampus / Gruß vom Krampus
(Greetings from the Crumpus) Everyone!
"On December 5th and 6th, in Austria, Switzerland, Croatia, Germany and other regions of European, children greet kindly St. Nicholas with his bag of toys and sweets only to find the Saint's devilish assistant trailing behind. Hideously costumed as a devil or wild man with a whipping switch or chains, Krampus comes to frighten the mischievous children into contrition."

the entire episode was pretty cool, actually. you should check out the segments about the crazy Spiderman + U2 musical and training the Afghani police force.

the REAL drummer in Cee-Lo Green's live band: Brittany Brooks!

so, you've seen Cee-Lo perform his song "Fµ¢k◄You" / "Forget You" (or "Fox News" on Colbert) on tv, with a 'live' band of women/girls...

well, BRITTANY BROOKS was the one bandmember who actually played the drums while the guitar, bass and keyboard ladies played to a backing track (at least on Colbert they did!)... and she's a pretty great drummer! she even has a cymbal sponsor.

follow her on the MySpace as brittanyabrooks and the Twitt'r: @brittanyAbrooks ! (i think thadrummindiva on MySpace is her, as well...)

here's Cee-lo and Ms. Brooks in a video from Later with Jools Holland:

and thank you, KEEP IT SIMPLE on the Drummerworld forum, for leading me to Youtuber NEWZAPPA for the info on Brittany's name! (plz. check the video's comments for his source.)

Doc Robbins from CSI and me!

here he is, Robert David Hall...who is not only the coolest CSI character, but he is an incredibly nice man in real life! he even asked for my name, and remembered it, after he got off the phone! we were at Pee-Wee Live with MaMcWa and JaSo, outside of Club Nokia at L.A. Live

BTW Mr. Hall, i'm sorry i interrupted you when you were trying to find your friends!

27 October 2009

...cos you're hanging out just twiddling your thumbs!

remember Timer? of course, Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick do!

this week's VENTURE BROTHERS featured a quote from the Monarch, referencing the animated little top-hatted cool guy from ABC:

"...or whatever turns you on." i love that. if you use TiVO, the scene happens at about the :25 point.

09 June 2009

i'd rather be at wok.

the BRIAN LYNCH blog says '30Rock is a Ripoff of the Muppet Show'. need proof?

Pete is Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, Kenneth is Scooter, Jack is Sam the Eagle, and so much more!!!!

btw just for timeline purposes: this past weekend was mellow for me (just wedding on Sat.), and crazy for the mister (Tesla rally, Lakers game). JaHe and DeRa were both in the house all weekend and we went to King's X Saturday night with PhiLe and DaLo.

MUSIC: Bell X1 on David Letterman 17/3/09

here is the BELL X1 VIDEO from Letterman.

again, i beg you, does anyone know what guitar he is using?!!?

MUSIC: Public Enemy & Bell X1 aka screw Coachella? i wanna be in Philly!

if you happened to catch PUBLIC ENEMY on Jimmy Fallon's show this week, their brilliant performance of Bring the Noise was accompanied by Antibalas' horn section and the Roots. the appearance of PROFESSOR GRIF with Nation of Islam-esque steppers, and TERMINATOR X on the turntables behind CHUCK D. and FLAVOR FLAV????!!! come on, now!

that audience was way too mellow.

and that was merely a taste of what's yet to come. turns out, not only are they scheduled to play the ROOTS' PICNIC in June, in Philadelphia...but PE will be performing their epic It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back in its freaking entirety. oh yeah, and TVOTR will perform, too.

oh yeah, did u happen to catch BELL X1 on Letterman? this is the second album i've heard, and they are both great...but tell me this song (The Great Defector) doesn't sound like the Talking Heads 2009?! no video clips yet, but you can hear them on Myspace.

oh, and could someone PLEASE tell us what guitar he is using???!

27 February 2009

The Animators' Guild Blog...

...is something i have been turned on to, lately. Today, they wrote that the Simpsons will indeed be renewed for two more seasons. Huzzah! and Caloo Callay!

Renee Stephens is just pissed she can't control all the minds on the internets...

i was reading about some backlash against a husband that was awful toward the woman who traded places/families with his own wife, Renee Stephens, on a reality tv show. In turn, Renee Stephens apparently disrespected and used all kinds of condescension on the family she was placed with...to put it nicely.

An Owen Thomas article (on Valleywag ) about the WifeSwap contestant posted the wife's online apologies, in which this woman claimed her husband had only agreed to participate in the show to please her. So, i looked around online to see if this woman was for real.

Renee Stephens' active and poorly designed website is undoubtedly from back in the day when she couldn't afford to send her kids to a $40k a year private school.

She puts a lot of worth on one's education, and seems to insult people without advanced degrees. Although her current blog containing the apology was taken offline, there is a blog entry from 2007 on ourhypnospace.com in which she states "I'm entering a doctoral program in Psychology in the Fall at the California Institute of Integral Studies..." and she "holds an MBA from the London Business School, and BA with Distinction from the University of Virginia. She is a Certified Hypnotherapist, Certified Master Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming, Certified Life Coach and Certified Destination Coach".

This woman was only trained and qualified to sell things...which she did, by inventing her own weight-loss method.

So, WTF is 'neuro linguistic programming'?!!! (to find out, see Slate.com, Skeptic's Dictionary and this NLP website) Let alone, a 'certified destination coach'? i still have no idea, except it has something to do with controlling your own brain's function. Then, there's the part about hynotizing yourself and believing you can persuade others through your words. Sounds like a marketing class taken to the self-help level to me...but, maybe it worked on the poor man who fell under the spell and married her.

The Soup & Cupcakes & Hamburger Mary

i attended a taping of the Soup with some friends from work. i learned some things (real quick): 1) the laughter is really from a small studio audience, that we were a part of, but a LOT of the fake laughter originates from the stage director and camera guy. kinda unnerving/ disconcerting/annoying. 2) Joel McHale was lent a freaking AUDI R8 but usually drives a Subaru STI. sweet! 3) Joel McHale drinks scotch (the crew gave him a bottle for his birthday). 4) Joel McHale's birthday is 20 November. 5) Joel McHale's Subaru guy is also named McHale. 5) gourmet cupcakes are kinda overrated but good nonetheless, cos i really like the variety factour. my proof: we had cupcakes before the show from Jean's on 3rd thanks to a friend who works at E! (thx for the pumpkin one, CraBo!) and then the store Sprinkles brought in cupcakes for the entire audience (red velvet wasn't too shabby).

then it was off to Hamburger Mary's in Hollywood for a meal and some drag queen-hosted karaoke...VERY fun, but i hate to sing in front of people i don't know, so i didn't. But, our waiter Jerry was a cutie.

anyway, be sure to watch the episode that airs this week!!!

27 October 2008

Jon Hamm's John Ham

This week's SNL was pretty funny...

i think it was one of the best episodes, overall, this season. But, tell me why everyone cheered when Mr. Sterling entered the room, but not for Peggy, who was seated at the table??!

oh yeah, i thought Coldplay did a good job, too!
